About me

Hi there, my name is Gordon Guangzheng Yu. My parents named me Guangzheng because they hoped that
I would be able to learn to be broad-minded (Guang means Broad) and virtuous (Zheng means Straight or Justice).
I was born in Chongqing and grew up in Beijing. In 2019, I was admitted to the gifted program of Beijing No. 8 High School, topping the admission cohort.
I want to be an astrophysicist when I grow up. I think the Universe is natural and regular. I love the regularity of mathematics and its natural beauty.
I love to explore all scientific fields including physics, chemistry and biology.I have an uncanny ability to observe and patiently formulate the meticulous workings of nature.
I insist on regular exercising. Running 6 km after school daily is the most relaxing time for me.
I am actually even better at sprinting, as I have won a number of 50-meter sprint competitions. I have also received professional fencing training for three years, and I was one of the top eight fencing players in Beijing Dongcheng District.
Equestrian and skiing are also among my favorite sports. I love reading all kinds of books as reading gives me both inner-peace and strength.
I have developed a habit of using artistic expression as a way of relaxation after an intensive study workout; I have achieved Chinese 8th Grade Piano Certification; I also enjoy performing magic tricks and playing with the Rubik’s cube. When I was in elementary school, I learned dozens of professional-level math-based magic tricks and performance. I sincerely wish friends home and abroad would visit my Chinese Knotting website (http://doudouknot.com) and you’re your precious suggestions. I have visited close to 40 countries spanning Europe, America and Asia, and have experienced different customs and indigenous cultures, to receive a richer and more diverse education, and to broaden my international outlook.
